Large chequerboard coffee table designed by Poul Cadovius and manufactured by Toften, c1960s.  Made of rosewood with parquetry top, removable legs, makers label to the underside.  

This was based on a furniture system designed by Poul Cadovius in the 1950's:  it provided stylish, configurable furniture that could be configured (which legs, which top, which finish),  and was easy to assemble.  This allowed for personalised interiors to suit any size space.
