Mettlach Art Nouveau style vase
A Mettlach Art Nouveau style glazed and unglazed ceramic vase. Makers mark to the base: Castle mark, Mettlach, 2505, No visible signs of damage or repairs.
Dimensions: H26cm, Diameter 10cm
Mettlach wares were produced by a pottery founded in Mettlach, Germany. It was famous for producing plaques, vases, jardinières, table wares, and other decorative wares. In 1836 the factory merged with another one, founded by Nicolas Villeroy, to form the famous ceramic company Villeroy & Boch (V&B). By the late 19th century V&B had seven factories altogether, but the one at Mettlach, most famous and celebrated for its production of steins and these beautiful decorative wares.
