Richard Young (b.1930-2012) was a gifted in-house designer for G-Plan. He has trained at the Royal College of Art from 1954 to 1958, and later studied in Denmark under Ole Wanscher at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He was responsible for the Group Three range for G-Plan (1962), which was targeted at a younger market. After his stint at G-Plan, he went on to establish the very successful Merrow Associates business - he was their chief designer.
