A set of six Arts and Crafts dining chairs by William James Neatby, c1905. Comprises one carver and five chairs. Made of oak, decorative carved back panel with stylised tree design. Newly upholstered in a Romo velvet fabric. WJ Neatby was a well known designer of the Arts and Crafts movement. He designed ceramics for Burmantofts (1884), Doulton and Co (from 1890). He designed a range of wares including furniture for Neatby Evans and Co (from 1901). One of his most well known designs is on the tiles used to decorate the famous Harrods Food Hall, London.
