Oak Church Pew
A very good quality oak church pew, c 1840s. Made of solid oak, carved decoration to the sides. In very good restored condition.
This pew was part of the original seating in St Thomas’, Parkgate, also known as the Fishermans’ Church. The church opened in 1843, and the pews were sold off in the mid-1990s as part of a fund raising effort to save the building. The church still operates today. The "IHS" symbol represents the first letters (iota-eta-sigma) of the name Jesus in the Greek alphabet: ΙΗΣΟΥΣ.
