6 x E Gomme dining chairs
A set of six Art Deco / Modernist dining chairs, by E Gomme, retailed by Heals, c1930s. They have the original features and style that dominated 1930s furniture design: bold geometric forms, quarter-sawn veneers, raised mouldings and classic fluted legs. In overall very good condition, but with a few small nicks to the veneer. They are newly upholstered in a Kirby Design Underground fabric.
See separate listing for matching table.
Dimensions: H80cm, H45cm (to seat), W46cm, D50cm
This set of dining furniture came from a family near Ludlow, and had been given to their parents as a wedding present when they were married in the early 1930s. It has been beautifully looked after by the family. It is rare to come across a set in such good order.
The fabric is a Kirby Design and London Transport Museum collaboration to reproduce the classic fabrics used on their London Underground train seats during the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.
